Statement of faith

A statement of faith is a formal written declaration that outlines the core beliefs, doctrines, and principles that a religious or spiritual organization adheres to. It serves as a concise summary of the fundamental tenets and teachings that guide the organization’s practices, teachings, and mission. Presented here are the key declarations forming CABN’s Statement of Faith.

The Holy Bible

The Holy Bible, a revelation from God through inspired individuals, serves as an impeccable guide for spiritual insight, unveiling God’s essence and intentions. It’s a dependable, error-free source directing behavior, beliefs, and creeds, holding its place as the supreme measure of Christian unity and a timeless standard for assessing religious perspectives. Every aspect of the Bible highlights Christ, the core focus of divine revelation.

God the Son

Christ, the eternal Son of God, became Jesus Christ when He was born through the Holy Spirit and the virgin Mary. He perfectly represented God’s will, taking on human nature and fully identifying with mankind while remaining sinless. He obeyed divine Law, and His sacrificial death on the cross provided redemption from sin. He resurrected with a glorified body, appearing to His disciples. After ascending to heaven, He sits at God’s right hand as the Mediator, fully God and fully man, reconciling God and humanity. He will return to judge the world and complete His redemptive mission. Christ currently resides in believers as the living and ever-present Lord.

God the Holy Spirit

The Holy Spirit, fully divine, inspired ancient writers to compose the Scriptures. Through illumination, He helps people grasp truth, magnifying Christ, and prompting awareness of sin, righteousness, and judgment. The Spirit leads individuals to salvation, instigates rebirth, and unites believers with the Body of Christ. He nurtures Christian qualities, provides solace, and confers spiritual gifts for serving through the church. The Spirit seals believers until ultimate redemption, assuring their growth into Christ’s likeness. He empowers worship, evangelism, and service in both believers and the church.

Man

We believe that humans are God’s special creation, made in His image. They were created male and female, sinless and endowed with free will, but they chose to sin, introduced by Satan’s influence. This fall from innocence led to a sinful nature passed to descendants, making them prone to transgression. God’s grace is the solution, restoring holiness and enabling them to fulfill their purpose. Human worth comes from being made in God’s image, with Christ’s sacrifice emphasizing their dignity and therefore deserves respect and Christian love.

Evangelism and Missions

Every believer and church in Christ have the responsibility and privilege to spread discipleship globally. The rebirth through the Holy Spirit instills love for others, driving missionary work as a spiritual necessity for the renewed. Christ’s teachings mandate this effort, with a direct order to preach the gospel worldwide. Every child of God must actively bring the lost to Christ through verbal testimony, consistent Christian living, and other gospel-aligned approaches.

Sacred Union and Sanctity of Life

God has established the family as the fundamental institution in human society, consisting of individuals connected through marriage, blood, or adoption. Marriage symbolizes the bond between Christ and the church, with one man and one woman united in a lifelong covenant. This sacred union offers companionship, sexuality within biblical guidelines, and the purpose of human procreation. Husbands and wives share equal value before God, both created in His image. Marriage mirrors God’s relationship with His people. Husbands are to love like Christ loved the church, with the duty to provide, protect, and lead. Wives should gracefully submit to their husband’s servant leadership, as the church does to Christ. Equal in God’s image, wives respect and support their husbands, aiding in household management and nurturing. From conception and a gift from God, children are to learn from parents’ marital example and are taught spiritual and moral values, guided by biblical truth through consistent living and loving discipline. Children must honor and obey their parents.

Baptism and the Lord’s Supper

Christian baptism involves immersing a believer in water using the names of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. This act of obedience represents faith in Christ’s crucifixion, burial, and resurrection, signifying death to sin and new life in Christ. It also affirms belief in the eventual resurrection. Baptism is essential for church membership and participation in the Lord’s Supper. The Lord’s Supper, a symbolic act, involves consuming bread and wine to remember Christ’s death and await His return.

The Church

A New Testament church, a local gathering of baptized believers, is self-governing, united by faith and fellowship in the gospel. They adhere to Christ’s laws, observe ordinances, and exercise privileges according to His Word, aiming to spread the gospel globally. Each church operates democratically, with members accountable to Christ. Pastors and deacons are the scriptural leaders, while men, qualified by Scripture, hold the pastoral office. The broader concept of the church as the Body of Christ encompasses all redeemed believers from various times, places, and cultures.

The Kingdom

The Kingdom of God comprises His universal rule and His authority over those who willingly accept Him as King. It’s a realm of salvation through faith in Jesus Christ. Christians should strive for the Kingdom’s presence and God’s will on earth. The Kingdom’s ultimate realization awaits Christ’s return and the end of this age.

Those found unrighteous will face eternal punishment in Hell, while the righteous, in glorified bodies, will receive their reward and dwell eternally in Heaven.

Salvation

Christ’s salvation redeems the entire person and is available to all who embrace Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. Through His blood, Christ secured eternal redemption. Salvation encompasses regeneration, justification, sanctification, and glorification. Personal faith in Jesus is the sole path to salvation. This involves 1). Regeneration: or the new birth, is a result of God’s grace, transforming believers into new creations in Christ. The Holy Spirit initiates this change through conviction of sin, met with the sinner’s repentance and faith in Jesus Christ. Repentance involves turning from sin to God, while faith is the embracing of Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, a holistic commitment; 2). Justification: is the merciful and complete declaration of righteousness by God, granted to repentant sinners who believe in Christ. This act establishes a state of harmony and favor between the believer and God; 3). Sanctification: commencing with regeneration, involves believers being consecrated for God’s intentions. Through the Holy Spirit’s presence and influence, they advance toward ethical and spiritual maturity. The process of growing in grace should persist throughout a believer’s life; and 4). Glorification: marks the ultimate completion of salvation, representing the ultimate and eternal state of blessedness for the redeemed.
